Jays Aren't Interested In Mulder

The Blue Jays say that any moves made in the coming weeks will be done internally.

Toronto isn't even bothering to send a scout to Arizona to view a workout conducted by free-agent pitcher Mark Mulder. They'd much rather have injured pitchers Ricky Romero and Casey Janssen back.

"Sooner or later, I'd like to get those guys back," manager Cito Gaston said.

Jays Match Team Record For Best Start

By improving to 27-14 with their four-game sweep of the White Sox, the Blue Jays matched a team record for best start through 41 games, set in 1984 and tied in 1985, the first year they advanced to postseason play.

The last time they had the best winning percentage in the AL this far into the season was the end of the 1993 season when they won their second World Series.

"Wining four games at home before we go gets our confidence up going into a hostile environment in Fenway," said Scott Richmond. "It's great for this team. This team is playing so well, these guys are so loose and relaxed and it's showing on the field."
