Jays' Beeston Feels Bad For Clemens

Blue Jays interim CEO Paul Beeston, who was president of the club during Rogers Clemens' time with the team, feels badly about how things have turned out for the pitcher.

"Before the Mitchell Report came out, Roger and Andy Pettitte and myself ... were playing golf and I remember Roger was just a tremendously fun guy to be around," Beeston told the Toronto Star. "He was comfortable with himself and to see this happen now and for him to be on the defensive ... I feel sad for him."

In addition to the Mitchell Report, a book entitled American Icon: The Fall of Roger Clemens and the Rise of Steroids in America's Pastime will be released next month.

Beeston says that Clemens did everything the Blue Jays asked him to do.

"Autographs, appearances, he didn't just take the money and pitch.

"If you had a group of sick children or a kid who had Roger Clemens as his hero, Roger would be there, sign the kid's autograph, then go out and pitch lights out," Beeston added.

Toronto's Tallet Wants To Extend Friday's Start

Toronto's Brian Tallet is making his second start of the year on Friday and his number one focus is to log as many innings as possible.

"As a starter your first goal is to try to pitch deep into the game," Tallet said. "Your second goal is to keep the team in the game."
