Texas To Decide Feliz's Role Once Again

Rangers general manager Jon Daniels says the team will make a decision on whether Neftali Feliz will start or close next season before spring training.

"I hate spring training decisions," Daniels said. "I do. I'd have to go back and study it, but you make as many bad ones as good ones. Sometimes you get bailed out and Nelson Cruz clears waivers. Everyone is in the fish bowl. I don't think it's the best way to make decisions."

Last year, one of the big questions was whether Feliz would move from closer, where he was the American League Rookie of the Year in 2010, to the rotation.

Rangers Exercise Option On Colby Lewis

The Rangers have exercised the 2012 option on the contract of right-hander Colby Lewis.

Lewis, 32, has become a reliable rotation member for Texas the past two seasons, pitching at least 200 innings in each.

He will make $3.25 million in 2012.

Game 7 Was Most-Watched Ballgame Since 2004

Game 7 of the World Series between St. Louis and Texas on Friday night averaged 25.4 million viewers to make it the most-watched ballgame since 2004.

The game, which the Cardinals win, earned a 14.7 fast national rating, bumping up the overall Series rating to 10.0. That's 19 percent higher than last season's series between the Giants and the Rangers.

Rangers Decide Not To Hold 2011 Rally

The Rangers will not hold a rally following their loss to the Cardinals in the 2011 World Series.

Texas held a rally last October following the team's first World Series appearance, which ended in a loss to the Giants.

Rangers spokesman John Blake said on Saturday that the team decided before the series began that no party should be held if they lost this year.

Blake said the team's expectations were higher, "and if we didn't win, we didn't think it merited it."

Mike Gonzalez Wants To Return To Rangers

Rangers reliever Mike Gonzalez, who pitched late in the season despite a significant knee injury, wants to return to the team.

Gonzalez tore the meniscus in his left knee against Seattle late in the season, but knew he could probably pitch with the injury in the playoffs.

"We didn't want to tell anybody so they wouldn't try to bunt or anything," Gonzalez said. "I just had to gut it out until the end."

Gonzalez said he'll have the knee scoped next week and will be fully prepared for spring training. The left-handed specialist is a free agent but is hopeful he can re-sign with Texas.

"I'm definitely interested in coming back," he said. "Whatever we can do, I'm willing to do what I need to do. The chemistry these guys have is something you want to have and something I love being around. I've only been here seven weeks, but I enjoyed myself more in Major League Baseball these seven weeks more than I have my entire career."
