Feliz, Francisco Will Both Close For Texas

Rangers manager Ron Washington says that Neftali Feliz will remain the team's closer.

Frank Francisco picked up a 10-pitch save on Tuesday night.

Still, Washington said that Feliz is his closer, but added that Francisco will get some opportunities.

"But that doesn't mean that Frankie isn't going to get some chances in the ninth inning," Washington said. "Because he will."

Rangers Promote Justin Smoak

The Rangers will promote hitter Justin Smoak from Triple-A Oklahoma City on Friday.

In a related move, Texas will demote first baseman Chris Davis.

Smoak was hitting .326 (15-for-46) with two homers and 15 RBIs going into Thursday's game.

"Justin has been having really quality at-bats at Triple-A and we just felt we could use more production out of that spot in the lineup," Rangers general manager Jon Daniels said. "We want to see if he can continue to have those high quality at-bats in the big leagues."

Davis was batting .188 with no homers and one RBI.

Rangers Could Move Andrus Into Leadoff Spot

The Rangers could make some changes to their lineup after being swept by the Yankees over the weekend.

The first adjustment might be moving Julio Borbon out of the leadoff spot in favor of Elvis Andrus, according to the Dallas Morning News.

Texas manager Ron Washington said that there is a "strong possibility" that Andrus will bat first and Borbon ninth when the team resumes play on Tuesday.
