Hurdle In Mix For Texas Hitting Coach Gig

The Texas Rangers have narrowed their search for a new hitting coach to four candidates.

Thad Bosley, Rusty Greer, Clint Hurdle and Gerald Perry are the final candidates.

Texas is looking for a replacement for Rudy Jaramillo, who took a job with the Cubs.

All four candidates are scheduled to be interviewed Monday, but no deadline has been set to make a decision.

Rangers Talk To Greer About Coaching Job

Rusty Greer has interviewed to become the hitting coach of the Rangers.

Greer, who has been coaching in the Texas Collegiate League the past few seasons, declined to comment on the discussions.

The Rangers are trying to find a replacement for longtime hitting coach Rudy Jaramillo.

Rangers Send Holland To Woo Japanese Lefty

The Rangers have sent left-hander Derek Holland to Japan to help recruit Japanese pitcher Yusei Kikuchi.

Kikuchi, 18, is considering whether to bypass the Nippon Professional Baseball draft to play in the United States.

Holland made the trip with Jim Colborn, the Rangers' director of Pacific Rim operations.
