Hawksworth Receives 20 Stitches

A CT scan on Cardinals reliever Blake Hawksworth was negative and he was to be released from the hospital a day after being hit in the face by a line drive.

Hawksworth was hospitalized overnight after being hit by a liner off the bat of Cubs' Sam Fuld in the fifth inning of Saturday's game.

He received about 20 stitches, but the scan of his head showed no structural damage and he was to be released Sunday.

Jack Clark Abruptly Leaves Cardinals' Broadcast Team

Jack Clark has abruptly left his position as a postgame analyst for the Cardinals broadcast team.

"He surprised us," FSM's Jack Donovan said Thursday. "I like Jack Clark, we were planning on using him for the rest of the season, but he decided he was through."

Clark spoke pointedly last week about the Cardinals, but the move is said to be unrelated.
