Cardinals' Isringhausen In Knee Brace

Cardinals' pitcher Jason Isringhausen has been in a knee brace rather than on the disabled list, according to St. Louis Post-Dispatch.

Isringhausen, who felt "a pop" in the knee while stretching between innings of his last appearance, admitted the condition remains painful but insisted he could pitch with any discomfort.

"It?s my understanding that there?s not much risk of that happening," Isringhausen said Saturday.

An MRI performed Friday revealed a strain of ligament, tendon, and the capsule on the outside of Isringhausen?s right knee.

Mulder May Start Against Royals

Cardinals' starter Mark Mulder may start against the Royals next weekend after a successful start with Class AAA Memphis, according to The St. Louis Post-Dispatch.

It would mark Mulder's first start since last August because of shoulder discomfort that led to a second surgery.

Fantasy Report: Duncan Struggling To Fill Pujols Void

St. Louis Cardinals' 1B/OF Chris Duncan has struggled since assuming the starting first baseman?s job following Albert Pujols? injury. He is 3-24 (.125) with no home runs and one RBI in six games, when the Cardinals went 3-3.

Duncan has undergone a regression in his development this season that has seen him sent back down to Triple-A before being called up again after Pujols? injury. As a hitter, Duncan has shown the potential to be a good power threat in the middle of the line-up; but, he has a pretty long swing, and his slugging percentage of .344 is seventh on the Cardinals among everyday players.

At this point, Duncan just isn?t a good major league player and no matter his versatility, shouldn?t be on a fantasy roster.
