Todd Wellemeyer and the Cardinals avoided arbitration, agreeing to a $1 million one-year contract on Monday, according to an Associated Press report.
The deal includes performance bonuses that could be worth another $100,000.

According to an AP report, Cardinals' Manager Tony La Russa is annoyed that Adam Kennedy skipped the team's Winter Warmup fan fest.
"I'm disappointed he's not here," La Russa said. "This is a statement we make to our fans: 'Thanks for coming out,' and he's not here."

St. Louis first basemen Albert Pujols banned a television station from participating in a news conference on Monday, according to a report by the Associated Press.
Pujols was angry because the station wrongly included his name in the Mitchell Report in December.
He asked the Cardinals media relations director to ask both a reporter and cameraman from the station to leave the room during the team's winter warm-up news conference.
