Weather Forces Mariners To Change Plans

The Mariners were forced to stay in Boston longer than expected on Wednesday.

The inclement weather that forced Tuesday night's game against the Red Sox to be postponed stuck around. The two teams are scheduled to play a day-night doubleheader at Fenway Park.

The team was originally scheduled to fly out of Boston on Wednesday afternoon, but those plans had to be changed to accommodate the doubleheader.

The longer stay was also a problem because of the lack of vacancies at hotels.

"The city of Boston is sold out," Mariners director of travel Ron Spellecy said. "There aren't any hotel rooms available in the downtown area and we need about 60 rooms."

Kotchman's Errorless Streak Ends At 274

Mariners first baseman Casey Kotchman's errorless streak ended at 274 games on Saturday.

His streak is the longest by a first baseman in major league history.

Kotchman couldn't handle a groundball on the glove side off the bat of Curtis Granderson in the eighth inning against the Yankees.

The error was his first since June 20, 2008, when he was a member of the Braves.

"That was a tough one," Kotchman said. "In between hops, hit hard."
