Mariners right-hander Aaron Harang has been scratched from his scheduled start Thursday night against the Yankees because of lower back stiffness, according to an ESPN.com report.
The Mariners say Hector Noesi will start in Harang's place at Yankee Stadium.

The Seattle Mariners have released David Aardsma.
Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports reports that Aardsma's contract contained a May 15 opt-out clause that allowed him to request his release if he wasn't with the Major League team.

Through the first five weeks of the 2013 season, those nine pitchers have combined to dominate opposing hitters. Those pitchers are Yu Darvish, Hyun-Jin Ryu, Hisashi Iwakuma, Hiroki Kuroda, Wei-Yin Chen, Junichi Tazawa, Koji Uehara, Kyuji Fujikawa and Hisanori Takahashi.
