The Red Sox have acquired catcher Jarrod Saltalamacchia from the Rangers for two minor leaguers, a player to be named and cash, according to an Associated Press report.
In other moves, the Red Sox sent reliever Ramon Ramirez to the Giants for pitching prospect Daniel Turpen.

"I had fun with it," Posey said. "It would have been something cool to have. But at the same time, I know who Willie McCovey is -- I didn't know he had the Giants rookie record hitting streak. ... I guess in a way it's kind of nice the attention will go back to (the team and winning) instead of the streak. After my first at-bat I tried to slow down a bit and be more patient because he was throwing so much offspeed stuff."
