Giants Give Freddy Sanchez Two-Year Deal

Freddy Sanchez has signed a two-year contract extension with the Giants, according to an Associated Press report.

Terms of the deal were not announced Friday but the Giants held an $8.1M option for 2010 for the three-time All-Star second baseman.

Sanchez was acquired from Pirates on July 29 in exchange for a minor league pitcher.

Winn Would Love To Re-Sign With Giants

Randy Winn is headed for free agency for the first time in his lengthy career.

The 11-year veteran, who hit just .262 with two home runs and 51 RBIs in 149 games this season, wouldn't mind returning to San Francisco.

"I love it here," he told MLB.com. "I love playing here. I love my teammates. This organization has treated me great."

The Giants are looking to add to their offense and Winn's declining production could leave him out of their plans.
