The Giants' Barry Zito was demoted to the bullpen Monday, in hopes the former ace can correct his problems by working in relief, according to an Associated Press report.
Zito, who only 16 months ago signed a $126M, seven-year deal to lead their rotation, was informed of the move in a meeting with manager Bruce Bochy.
?I?m certainly not happy with it, by any means,? Zito said. ?But this is the bed that I?ve made. I have to lay in it for the time being and I have to overcome. I trust management and I trust what their decisions are.?

The Giants are considering moving Barry Zito to the bullpen after a horrible start to the 2008 regular season, according to the San Francisco Chronicle.
"We're going to get together here," manager Bruce Bochy said. "We've got to do something different. There's no doubt about that. We can't keep doing what we're doing. We need to get together and get a game plan on what we think is best."
San Francisco gave Zito a $125 million contract after the 2006 season.
One option could be placing Barry in the bullpen. "That's an option. Sure," Bochy added.
"Obviously it's hurting the team right now," Zito said. "It's not a good place to be personally, but those guys make the decisions and we always trust what they want us to do. They know how to manage teams and ballclubs. I've brought it on myself. It's not that they're acting rash in a situation that wouldn't call for it."
