Police Report: Cocaine Found At Beck's Home The Day He Died

Police found evidence of cocaine and drug paraphernalia at former major league pitcher Rod Beck's home on the day he died.

A police report released Tuesday indicated evidence in several places at Beck's house, including the bathroom and the master bedroom in which the 38-year-old Beck, a three-time All-Star who saved 286 games, was found dead at his northeast Phoenix home on June 23.

Morris Traded To Pittsburgh

The San Francisco Giants have acquired 26-year-old center fielder Rajai Davis and a player to be named later from the Pittsburgh Pirates in exchange for right-handed pitcher Matt Morris, club Senior Vice President and General Manager Brian Sabean announced today.

Davis, 5-11 and 195 pounds, is hitting .271 (13-for-48) with two doubles, two RBI and five stolen bases in 24 games for the Pirates. The right-handed hitting speedster was recalled from triple-A Indianapolis June 5, and made 12 starts in center field for Pittsburgh. The University of Connecticut at Avery Point product posted a .409 average (9-for-22) with two runs, two doubles and two stolen bases in his final 13 contests in a Pirates uniform.

No Takers For Morris?

The San Francisco Giants spent the final half hour before the trading deadline trying to deal starting pitcher Matt Morris, but, based on his contract and recent struggles, were having trouble finding a taker.

Morris is guaranteed $9.5 million next season.
