Padres Won't Pursue Peavy Trade, But Will Listen To Offers

It has become much less likely that the Padres will trade ace Jake Peavy this offseason, but the organization is still willing to listen to offers.

Both CEO Sandy Alderson and General Manager Kevin Towers have said the club will still listen to inquiries.

Intense negotiations with the Cubs regarding Peavy reportedly broke down last month.

Padres Agree To One-Year Deal With Luis Rodriguez

The Padres have agreed to a one-year deal with infielder Luis Rodriguez.

Rodriguez hit .287 with 12 RBI and 22 runs scored in 64 games in his first season with San Diego.

He was signed by Minnesota as an undrafted free agent in 1997, Rodriguez has a career average of .257 with six home runs and 50 RBI over parts of four major league seasons.

Former Giant Correia Signs Minor League Deal With San Diego

The Padres and pitcher Kevin Correia have reached terms on a minor league contract, with both sides expecting that Correia will compete for a starting job in spring training. The $750,000 salary is contingent on Correia winning a spot on the 25-man roster.

"I view him having a solid shot at the back end of our rotation," said General Manager Kevin Towers.

Correia has spent his entire career with the San Francisco Giants.
