Padres Will Have To Wait To Clinch Playoff Spot

The San Diego Padres are still waiting to clinch a playoff spot -- and they can blame a familiar name.

Tony Gwynn Jr. hit a tying, two-out triple off Trevor Hoffman in the ninth inning, and the Milwaukee Brewers went on to beat the Padres 4-3 in the 11th on Saturday.

The Padres are assured of at least a tie for the NL wild-card spot, but they can wrap it up with a win Sunday.

Padres Still Want Bradley Back In 2008?

Padres General Manager Kevin Towers spoke of re-signing Milton Bradley for 2008. He noted the freakish events that led to the injury: Bradley fell as Black tried to restrain him from charging umpire Mike Winters, who later was suspended.

?He played his heart out for us,? Towers said. ?If he had an interest in coming back, I would have a hard time walking away from him, based on what he did for this organization and the injury and how it happened.

?I don't even know if when he was healthy we would have done something long-term. We probably would have been talking a year or a year with an option.?
