Hints At Racial Profiling After Traffic Stop Of Dodgers And Pirate

Russell Martin, reliever Joe Beimel and outfielder Delwyn Young laughed off an incident that occurred late Tuesday night in which an SUV they were riding in which was driven by Pirates outfielder Nyjer Morgan was pulled over by Pittsburgh police at an intersection outside PNC Park.

The four were ordered out of the vehicle and told to sit on an adjacent curb while officers searched the vehicle, but they eventually were allowed to continue on their way.

Both Morgan, who is black, and Martin, who is biracial, seemed to hint at possible racial profiling by the officers. But when asked directly whether they believed such profiling had been a reason for the traffic stop, both players said no.
