Pirates Officially Sign Byung-Hyun Kim

The Pittsburgh Pirates today signed right-handed pitcher Byung-Hyun Kim to a one year contract. The Pirates have designated infielder Ray Olmedo for assignment.

"Byung-Hyun Kim is a veteran right handed pitcher who has pitched and wants to again pitch, late in bullpen," said Huntington. "He has been tough on right-handed hitters over the past three seasons and had both left-handed hitters and right-handed hitters when he pitched primarily as a reliever. Byung-Hyun will hwill a role on our club as a reliever, and he adds an experienced option for us in our bullpen competition."

Pirates, Kim Agree To $850,000 Deal

The Pittsburgh Pirates have agreed to terms with pitcher Byung-Hyun Kim on a one-year deal worth $850,000, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

He is expected to have a physical on Thursday to complete the agreement.

Pittsburgh expects to use Kim in the bullpen exclusively.
