Report: Halladay Gets Second Opinion

Roy Halladay received a second opinion Wednesday on his right latissimus dorsi strain, according to a report.

Phillies doctor David Altchek saw Halladay for the second opinion.

A team official told the Philadelphia Inquirer that Halladay plans to speak publicly about the situation after team doctor Michael Ciccotti.

He is expected to miss six to eight weeks.

Halladay Will Be Out 6-8 Weeks

The Phillies will be without Roy Halladay for six to eight weeks.

The right-hander was placed on the disabled list with a right latissimus dorsi strain on Tuesday.

He left Sunday's start against the Cardinals with shoulder soreness.

"We hate to have him down, but it's nothing that requires anything other than rest," Phillies assistant general manager Scott Proefrock said.

Halladay To Have Shoulder Examined Tuesday

Roy Halladay will visit with a doctor on Tuesday, two days after he was pulled from a start because of a sore right shoulder.

The Phillies are still determining where and when, exactly, the former Cy Young winner will be examined.

Halladay first started to feel discomfort in Tuesday's start against Washington, but pitched through it.

He cut back on throwing between starts, but it didn't help and he left after two innings against St. Louis on Sunday.

Teams Turned Off By Oswalt's Asking Price

Roy Oswalt has thrown for the Phillies, Rangers, Red Sox and at least one other team this month.

However, the free-agent remains unsigned as June approaches.

Major League executives claim that teams have been turned off by the right-hander's asking price.

The Dodgers checked in and considered the price "excessive."

One source said Oswalt wants a pro-rated $7.5 million in base salary. Another said that Oswalt's desired salary is a moving target, "but always high."
