Ryan Howard hit two homers off Atlanta on Friday evening at Citizens Bank Park.

?He?s got so much power, and this is a high school field,? Braves catcher Brian McCann said of Howard, who has four homers and seven RBIs in his past two games against the Braves, including a two-homer game Aug. 16 at Atlanta.

Stairs Wants To Return To Phillies In 2010

Matt Stairs wants to play for the Phillies next season.

"I'll play one more year and I'm done," Stairs told the Philadelphia Inquirer. "I'd like to be back, but that's a decision for the team. I'm inexpensive, and I don't complain that I don't play a lot."

Stairs, a 17-year veteran, can become a free agent after the season.

Assistant general manager Scott Proefrock declined to say if the Phils wanted to re-sign Stairs when asked by the Inquirer.

Manuel Backs Lidge After Ninth Blown Save

Phillies closer Brad Lidge has blown nine saves this season, but manager Charlie Manuel is still behind him.

"We've got to stay with him, he's got to keep going," Manuel told the Philadelphia Daily News of Lidge. "What the hell? That's all we can do. We'll come out and play tomorrow. We'll come out and win tomorrow's game."

Lidge is 24-for-33 in save opportunities and has a 7.33 ERA this season.

"I didn't have anything on the ball tonight," said Lidge. "The fourth day in a row for me historically has been pretty bad. I wasn't able to make an adjustment tonight, and I just didn't have anything on the ball. I need to be able to try to make an adjustment ... I wasn't able to do it tonight."

Manuel refuses to reveal a lack of faith in Lidge.

"That's where we're at," Manuel said. "That's our closer. I've said it all along. That's the guy that we give the ball to in the ninth inning."
