No Contract Talks Yet With Howard

Ruben Amaro said that the Phillies and Ryan Howard's new agent, Casey Close, have yet to discuss a contract for 2007 or beyond.

Howard, the National League Rookie of the Year in 2005 and the MVP in 2006, is a season away from arbitration. He made $335,000 in 2006 and should expect a raise of at least $1 million.

The Phillies have said they don't expect to pursue a multiyear deal with Howard, 27, until after the season.
