The Twins have acquired shortstop Orlando Cabrera from the Athletics, a source told FOX Sports.
In exchange for Cabrera, Minnesota has sent Class A shortstop Tyler Ladendorf to Oakland.

The Athletics and Twins were making progress on a trade involving shortstop Orlando Cabrera late Thursday night, according to a source.
Minnesota has been looking for help in the infield, and tried unsuccessfully to get Freddy Sanchez from Pittsburgh earlier this week.
Cabrera is hitting .280 with four homers and 41 RBI for Oakland this season.

Orlando Cabrera has been frequently mentioned in trade talks, with the Twins most interested. His wife has been closely following the rumors.
"My wife's into that stuff, because she's the one who would have to pack our bags," Cabrera said before the A's 8-6 win over the Red Sox. "... When (Matt) Holliday got traded, I knew because she told me."
