Frank Thomas will reportedly be an everyday designated hitter as a member of the Oakland A's, according to the San Francisco Chronicle.
"Yeah, he's the everyday DH," Geren said Thursday morning of Thomas. "And (Daric) Barton is going to get significant playing time. I'll get Mike (Sweeney) in there as much as I can. Having too many good players is never a problem."
In order to make room for Thomas on the team's roster, Eric Chavez was placed on the 60-day disabled list while he recovers from back issues.

The Athletics are playing good baseball, and it seems possible that Billy Beane would entertain the idea of signing Barry Bonds or Frank Thomas, according to the San Francisco Chronicle.
"I saw that he was released (Sunday) morning," assistant GM Dave Forst said. "We haven't even talked about it. We've got a couple DH options here now. Honestly, we haven't even had a discussion."
"We obviously enjoyed our time with Frank here (the '06 season), so sure, we'll have a discussion," he added.
Bonds, however, doesn't seem like as much of a possibility in Oakland.
"Barry who?" Forst said when asked about Bonds.
