Rich Harden gave Oakland a dominant start on Wednesday as the Athletics defeated the Red Sox 5-1 at the Tokyo Dome in Japan, according to MLB.com
He was limited to just seven appearances in 2007 because of a variety of injuries to his right arm.
"Rich showed tonight against the World [Series] champions how good he is and how much we need him," A's Manager Bob Geren said. "Tonight, he pitched the way we know he can, and we're hoping to get 30-plus more of those."
"My catcher Kurt Suzuki called a great game," Harden said.

Coco Crisp says he has heard all the rumors that could have him sent out of Boston.
"Over the course of my career, I've heard a lot of rumors about places I might go, and I thought I might get traded," Crisp said. "Nothing ever happens, except when I came over from Cleveland (in 2006). So I'll wait and see, but I won't think about it much."
"I've heard a couple of things. Chicago, Oakland, the other Chicago, San Diego."
