A-Rod's Rehab Will Move To Tampa Soon

Yankees' third baseman Alex Rodriguez will move his rehab location from Colorado to the team's spring training complex in Tampa by April 13.

"We're still talking about it," Cashman said. "Everything is going well. He's working extremely hard. Everything is going as planned."

Rodriguez has started swinging a bat, and manager Joe Girardi received a message from him saying he was set to resume throwing this week.

"He was going to up his work level a little bit more," Girardi said. "His rehab is taking another step. Seemed like he was in a good frame of mind. We miss him and he misses us."

Pettitte: This Is Best Yankee Rotation I've Been In

Andy Pettitte believes this is the best five-man rotation he has been a part of during his many years with the Yankees.

"Yeah, definitely. Obviously, with CC [Sabathia] and A.J. [Burnett], it's looking like a rotation that's a huge improvement over last year. If we all stay healthy and our bullpen stays healthy, we look strong on paper, but you have to play the games," Pettitte said.

"Boston is so strong. Tampa is so strong. Baltimore is getting better. It's a tough division."

Gardner To Start In Center For Yanks

The Yankees have decided that Brett Gardner will start over Melky Cabrera in center field to begin the season.

"We're going to start with Gardy in center," manager Joe Girardi said. "Both of them played great. Melky had a tough year last year, but he came into camp and was ready to go and played well. Gardy finished up strong and had a great camp."

Gardner and Cabrera received an equal chance in spring training, with just one at-bat separating them.

Gardner is 20 for 52 (.385) and Cabrera is 18 for 53 (.340), while each has scored 10 runs and walked six times.
