Pettitte Won't Commit To 2009

Andy Pettitte only wants to pitch for the Yankees next season if he decides to continue playing, but he's not ready to commit just yet.

"I think Andy will continue to pitch," Manager Joe Girardi said.

Pettitte has said that he would like to pitch in the new Yankee Stadium.

"Like I've told you all over and over, I'm not real sure," Pettitte said. "Just looked at the ballpark over there and I would love to do it. I just feel like I need to get away and like I've told you all, I've got some things that I need to weigh over and figure out."

"Hopefully, I can come to a conclusion pretty quick and figure out what I would like to do."

Mariano Rivera Opts For Shoulder Surgery

Yankees' closer Mariano Rivera has decided to have arthroscopic surgery to clear up the calcification on top of his AC joint in his right shoulder.

"The exact date and who is doing it and the specifics, I don't have," Manager Joe Girardi said. "I think this is what Mo feels most comfortable with. Fortunately for us, it's not something - when you hear shoulder, you think labrum, rotator - it's not that, it's a calcium deposit they shave down, I think."

Despite dealing with the injury all season long, Rivera converted 38 of 39 save opportunities while recording a 1.43 ERA in 63 appearances.
