Scott Proctor Retires

Scott Proctor has decided to retire, according to Mark Feinsand of the New York Daily News.

Proctor signed a minor league contract with the San Francisco Giants this offseason but was traded to the Baltimore Orioles in March and released at the end of April.

A-Rod Increases On-Field Workload In Tampa

Alex Rodriguez has begun his third week of on-field work by adding defensive drills and hitting in a cage, an increase in workload.

Rodriguez, who is recuperating from left hip surgery on Jan. 16, fielded grounders and took 25 swings during a batting practice session in an indoor cage on Monday.

The New York Yankees expect Rodriguez to return after the All-Star break.

Yankees Acquire Reid Brignac From Rockies

The New York Yankees have acquired utility infielder Reid Brignac from the Colorado Rockies.

New York got Brignac from Colorado for cash considerations on Saturday.

Brignac, a career .228 hitter, will give the Yankees a left-handed bat on the bench.

Blue Jays Struggle At Yankee Stadium

The Toronto Blue Jays lost to the New York Yankees in the Bronx on Saturday afternoon.

The team has lost 23 of their last 28 games at Yankee Stadium.

In 29 games at the new Yankee Stadium, Blue Jays slugger Jose Bautista is hitting .247/.397/.557 with nine home runs and 17 RBI.

Yankees Have $97M On Disabled List

Andy Pettitte is the latest member of the New York Yankees to land on the disabled list after leaving Thursday's start with a strained left trapezius muscle.

New York activated Curtis Granderson this week, but they still have stars Derek Jeter, Alex Rodriguez and Mark Teixeira on the DL.

The Yankees have a payroll of more than $200 million and approximately $97 million of it is currently on the disabled list.
