Beltran Not Close To Return

The Mets are rolling, but they aren't close to getting center fielder Carlos Beltran back in the lineup.

Beltran had originally targeted May for his return, but he still isn't running and a June return appears more likely.

He was fitted for a custom knee brace on his right knee last week in the hopes of accelerating his rehabilitation.

Bernazard: Mets Blamed Me For '09 Woes

Former vice president of player development Tony Bernazard believes that the Mets blamed him for their struggles last season.

Bernazard infamously lost his job last year after reportedly tearing off his shirt and challenging players at Double-A Binghamton to a fight.

"This is the thing: I was blamed for everything that happened to the Mets last year," Bernazard told Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports. "... why do people choose to be so na?ve, that one person was responsible for everything that happened to the Mets?"

Bernazard also blames the media and the Mets for blowing his misconduct out of proportion. "I'm telling you, I didn't do anything wrong," he said.

Mets May Ask K-Rod For Multi-Inning Saves

It's possible that Mets manager Jerry Manuel could start asking closer Francisco Rodriguez to record multi-inning saves.

New York asked Rodriguez to protect a lead in the eighth inning without just one out on Thursday night and Manuel could do more of the same if K-Rod bounces back well.

"Once he's ready to go he's shown he can pitch multiple innings and he can bounce back," Manuel said.

Rodriguez doesn't mind getting four or five outs, but he doesn't like being asked to warm up multiple times.
