Francoeur Wants To Remain In New York

Mets outfielder Jeff Francoeur has had a good time in New York and hopes to remain with the club.

He wants to sit down with New York general manager Omar Minaya to discuss a contract extension this winter.

"I'd love for that to happen," Francoeur told Newsday. "I think there's a lot to be said when you feel like you can pencil a guy in for 158 games and not have to worry about rightfield. It can help a manager, and it can help a GM when they're putting a team together. Hopefully, that's how they feel."

Mets' Wright Benched For Lack Of Hustle

Mets third baseman David Wright was absent from the lineup on Sunday after showing an uncharacteristic lack of hustle one day prior.

Wright loafed to home plate against the Braves on Saturday night, which proved costly because he didn't cross home plate before teammate Jeff Francoeur was thrown out at second.

"Some of these mistakes by the younger players you can handle," manager Jerry Manuel told the New York Post. "But what you hope for is that the Wrights, the [Carlos] Beltrans, those guys, now can police the rest of the group where you don't have to be as a manager concerned with that."

Wright apologized to his teammates after the game.
