Mets manager Jerry Manuel says that Oliver Perez will start on Saturday against the Phillies, his last shot to remain in the team's starting rotation.
"I think it's important, him being one of my guys, that I give him every benefit of the doubt," Manuel said.
New York signed Perez to a three-year deal worth $36 million this winter, but he is 1-2 with a 9.31 ERA in four starts this season.
"I am looking at Philadelphia as a big outing for him. I'm hoping to find something," Manuel said.
