UNC's Hansbrough Held Out Of Practice With Shin Injury

University of North Carolina basketball star Tyler Hansbrough is being held out of practice indefinitely with a stress reaction condition in his right shin, according to an Associated Press report on Thursday.

Team spokesman Steve Kirschner says Hansbrough underwent an MRI that revealed the stress reaction. Kirschner says the injury could lead to a stress fracture if not properly treated.

Stoudamire Would Like To Coach At Arizona

Former Arizona guard Damon Stoudamire said that he would "love to be a part of" the Wildcats' coaching staff in the near future.

Stoudamire, who is not on an NBA roster heading into the season, wouldn't might joining the team this season or next.

"They know I'd work hard because that's who I am," Stoudamire said. "I know the game. I think it would be a dream situation to go back to my alma mater and help out. I think it would be a great opportunity. I know Tucson. I know Arizona."

Stoudamire played for the Spurs last season and is currently living in Houston.

"Right now, I'm working out and staying in shape as though I was playing," he said.

Arizona Coach Olson Retires

Arizona athletic director Jim Livengood confirmed Lute Olson’s decision to retire hours after news reports had started speculating about the Hall of Famer’s future. Livengood said a successor would be named soon.

“This was not a decision that was made lightly,” Olson said in a statement released by the university on Thursday. “I’ve had a wonderful run at the University of Arizona. I leave with a great sense of pride in what we have accomplished here.”
