Thome Enjoys Comparison To Brett Favre

Jim Thome is planning on continuing his career into the 2011 season.

"That's the plan, absolutely," he said.

Thome's performance and presence with the Twins has drawn comparisons by some to Brett Favre.

"Any time you can have your name thrown in the same mix with Brett Favre, it's an honor," he said. "That's pretty cool. I guess if you kind of look at how (the Vikings') season went last year, yeah."

Twins Clinch 6th AL Central Title In 9 Seasons

The Twins clinched their sixth AL Central Division title over the past nine seasons with a come from behind victory over the Indians on Tuesday.

Minnesota's 6-4 win brought their magic number to one. The White Sox later lost, 7-2, to the A's to give Minnesota the title.

"I think tonight was definitely a description of how the whole season has been for us," Denard Span said. "Just being resilient and playing all nine innings.

"We started off hot at the beginning of the season and went through a little funk, but we came out after the All-Star break, and since then we've pretty much took care of business and did what we're supposed to do."

Thome Hits 587th HR For Win

Twins slugger Jim Thome hit the 587th home run of his career on Saturday to give his team a victory in 12 innings over the Indians.

The home run moved him out of a tie with Frank Robinson and into sole possession of eighth on the all-time list.

"We watched him kill us for all these years," Twins manager Ron Gardenhire said. "It's kind of nice to have him on our side killing some else."
