The Minnesota Twins have already begun to regret the Matt Garza for Delmon Young trade and appear to be shopping him.

They covet Matt Cain, but it is extremely unlikely that the Giants would yield such a solid young starter for Young.

Twins' Smith: We Need To Bolster Bullpen And Infield

Twins' GM Bill Smith claims that his top priorities this winter will be bolstering the team's bullpen and infield.

"We've got to resolve a few things here," Smith said from Fort Myers, where he is watching some Instructional League baseball action.

"We've got to bolster the bullpen," Smith added. "And middle infield is something we have to look at, too."

Twins Close To Extension With Gardenhire

The Twins are soon expected to wrap up negotiations with manager Ron Gardenhire on a contract extension and sign the coaching staff for at least one more year, according to a person with knowledge of the talks.

Gardenhire, whose current contract expires following the 2009 season, arrived in Fort Myers, Fla., on Wednesday as the club prepares for its annual organizational meetings that start later this week.
