Liriano Begins Season On The 60-Day DL

Twins lefthander Francisco Liriano, who underwent "Tommy John" surgery on his left elbow last November, will start the 2007 season on the 60-day disabled list.

Liriano is not expected to pitch at all in 2007 while he recovers from the surgery.

Mauer Sidelined With Leg Injury

Twins catcher Joe Mauer has a stress reaction in his left leg, the team said Thursday.

The Twins described the injury as a precursor to a stress fracture. They discovered the injury after Mauer complained of soreness in the leg.

Morneau Contract Talks End Without Deal

The Twins and reigning American League Most Valuable Player Justin Morneau have been discussing a new contract, but talks have ended without an agreement on a multi-year deal.

Morneau, who said his emotions changed from "optimistic to frustrated" in the past few weeks, will earn $4.5 million this year.

"Oh, well," Morneau said. "I'll just have a good year and we'll try to get something done next year."
