Morneau To Finally Have MRI On Left Arm

First baseman Justin Morneau is expected to have his left arm examined this week.

Morneau, bothered most of the year by soreness in his elbow, will likely have an MRI test done Thursday or Friday to examine his forearm for any problems.

"He hasn't told me he needs to be shut down yet, so we're playing him," manager Ron Gardenhire said.

The Twins anticipated the 24-year-old Morneau anchoring their lineup in his first full major league season, but he went into a slump in mid-May that he never fully escaped.

Another Twin Going Home? Stewart Unlikely To Play Again This Season

Shannon Stewart's left shoulder causes him so much pain the outfielder is unlikely to play again this season for the Twins.

Stewart met with manager Ron Gardenhire before Tuesday night's game at Oakland and they decided the left fielder won't play again in 2005 unless Stewart decides his shoulder improves enough that he wants to test it again in a game.

"I'm not ruling it out, but I'd rather be all right for next year," Stewart said. "I'll be ready to get this year over. ... I've been beat up this year. It's been a tough year. I got hit in the elbow, I hurt my wrist. As soon as I started swinging the bat well, I hit the wall. I really never got into a good groove. I've been on the DL with injuries and felt a lot better than I have this year."

Hunter Puts Home For Sale, Expecting To Be Traded

Although he's under contract with Minnesota for the 2006 season and the Twins have a club option on him for 2007, Torii Hunter has put his condominium on the market, the Minneapolis Star Tribune reported Friday.

"I'm putting it up for sale and will be renting an apartment," Hunter told the Star Tribune. "It's a business sometimes. I want to be here, but you never know what could happen. I've seen good friends leave here.

Hunter told the newspaper that he's heard from people he trusts that he could be traded this offseason. Hunter's 2006 salary of $10.75 million would be the highest single-season in Twins history. The Twins have a $12 million option on him for the 2007 season, or could buy him out for $2 million.

The Twins, however, told the newspaper that they would have to overwhelmed to trade their Gold Glove center fielder. But Hunter believes he could be dealt.

"I've heard from a couple people who are real good sources. I'm human. When you hear that stuff, you're like, 'Wow, I better cover myself then.' If they want to, that's fine. That's why I understand the business side," he told the newspaper.
