Brewers, Lucroy Agree To Extension

The Brewers have agreed to a contract extension with catcher Jonathan Lucroy.

The deal is believed to be worth $11 million over five years.

Lucroy was scratched from the starting lineup for Milwaukee's exhibition game against Cleveland on Monday, presumably while the finishing touches were being put on the extension.

Hart's Recovery 'Ahead Of Schedule'

Corey Hart is ahead of schedule in his return from minor knee surgery.

There is a good chance that Hart will be ready for Opening Day.

However, Ron Roenicke made it clear Saturday that Hart also will have to be baseball-ready.

"I'm hearing real good things," Roenicke said. "He's ahead of schedule. If he stays on this pace physically, he will be ready to go on opening day. But baseball-wise, I don't know if he will be.

"We're trying to figure out how many games we think he'll need to be ready. As things go on, we'll see how he's doing and see how, when he starts playing in games, how his at-bats go.

"Results need to be there. When I say results, I don't mean they have to be hits. But if he's having good at-bats and squaring up balls and is laying off (bad) stuff and he looks good, then we'll have to think about it."

Braun Not Concerned With Struggles, Reception

Ryan Braun is unconcerned with critical fans or mounting outs this spring.

Braun played his first spring road game on Saturday, going 0-for-2 with a walk during Milwaukee's 8-1 loss to the Angels.

"There's never a quantity of at-bats in Spring Training that would concern me, ever," Braun said.

"Spring Training has never been result-oriented. It's always process-oriented. The process is certainly a little different this year. It's an adjustment I'll have to make."

After appealing a suspension over the winter, Braun is under a spotlight. He played before supportive crowds at Maryvale Baseball Park, but Saturday received a harsher reception on the road, even as an L.A. guy playing in front of Angels fans.

"I don't think anything of it," Braun said. "That's a story for you guys."

Braun Homers For First Hit Of Spring

Ryan Braun's first hit of the 2012 exhibition season was a two-run home run in Milwaukee's 8-6 loss to Cincinnati.

Braun had been 0-for-5 before homering in the third inning on Thursday.

Corey Hart Set For Knee Surgery

Corey Hart will undergo surgery Tuesday in suburban Phoenix to repair torn cartilage in his right knee.

The Brewers expect Hart to be sidelined for three to four weeks, which could put his status for the team's April 6th opener in doubt.

An optimistic Hart said, "it's not far fetched to be back that soon."
