Greinke Could Make Brewers Debut May 4

Brewers right-hander Zack Greinke threw 75 pitches in his rehab assignment for Triple-A Nashville on Friday and is on schedule to make his Brewers debut.

His first start for Milwaukee will likely come on May 4 against Atlanta.

"I know he's looking forward to this being his last one there," Brewers manager Ron Roenicke said prior to Friday's game. "To get up and down is what's important. I hope he doesn't run through his pitch count to where he's not getting up and down a lot.

"But he feels good. He was a little disappointed in his offspeed stuff the last time, so hopefully he'll get that on track."

Saito Leaves Rehab Start With Strain

Brewers reliever Takashi Saito left a rehab assignment with Triple-A Nashville on Thursday with a left oblique strain.

The right-hander, 41, was slated to return to Milwaukee on Friday to see Dr. William Raasch.

Saito, signed in December to a $1.75 million contract, made two appearances before being placed on the disabled list with a left hamstring strain earlier this season.

Concussed Almonte Slept Under Supervision

Brewers utility man Erick Almonte went home to sleep under supervision after becoming the first player placed on the new seven-day disabled list for concussions.

"We had somebody spend the night with him last night and we didn't get a call, which is good," Brewers manager Ron Roenicke said Wednesday. "Any time you have a concussion, the doctors now really don't like you to spend the night [alone]."

Almonte was hit in the forehead by a ball thrown by third baseman Craig Counsell during batting practice Tuesday.

Hart Could Return To Brewers Tuesday

Brewers right fielder Corey Hart, who's been on the disabled list all season after suffering a left oblique strain in spring training, might be back in uniform with the team as early as Tuesday.

Hart has been on a rehabilitation assignment at Class AAA Nashville since Tuesday and was 2 for 9 through Friday's game.

He was scheduled to play seven innings both Friday and Saturday and then take Sunday off before playing a full nine innings Monday.
