Brewers Noncommittal On Macha's Future

General manager Doug Melvin said he's not planning to make public his plans for manager Ken Macha until after the Brewers complete their regular season.

"I'll make all decisions after the season," Melvin said. "Within a few days after the season."

The situation is inherently different than 2009, when Melvin declared before the season's final game that Macha would be back for the second year of his contract, and then added a club option for 2011 onto Macha's deal to give him some stability.

Brewers Clinch 2nd Consecutive Losing Season

The Brewers were shutout 4-0 by the Marlins on Saturday.

The loss clinched a second consecutive losing season for the Brewers (72-82) after they won the NL wild card in 2008 in exciting fashion.

Milwaukee finished 80-82 in 2009.

Doug Davis Won't Pitch Again For Brewers

General manager Doug Melvin said left-hander Doug Davis will not pitch again for the Brewers. Davis recently said he hoped to be activated this weekend and be available to pitch out of the bullpen, but Melvin met with the veteran to tell him that wasn't feasible.

"I told him it would be tough (to get him innings) because we're playing teams in the pennant race," said Melvin. "And we want to see some of our young pitchers. I told him why (he wouldn't be activated)."
