The Brewers have reacquired reliever Claudio Vargas from the Dodgers.
Milwaukee sent minor league catcher Vinny Rottino to Los Angeles to complete the trade.
Vargas won 11 games for the Brewers in 2007, but was released before the start of the 2008 season.

The Brewers have been reportedly shopping their shortstops, with Class AAA Nashville shortstop Alcides Escobar or shortstop J.J. Hardy rumored to be going to the Seattle Mariners, though the Mariners acquired shortstop Jack Wilson from the Pittsburgh Pirates on Wednesday. Hardy and Escobar are aware of the gossip, and Escobar even sent Hardy a text message jokingly asking which shortstop would be traded.
"There's nothing I can do but go out and play," Hardy said. "Seattle made sense to me because they needed a shortstop and we needed pitching. That was one of the rumors I heard a little more than the others."

General manager Doug Melvin admitted on Tuesday night that the Brewers are looking to add arms to their pitching staff.
"We're still looking to see if we can find pitching that makes us better," Melvin said. "There's still a lot of baseball left, if we can get guys back on track. It's not like we're 6, 7, 8 games back."
Milwaukee is 4 1/2 games behind St. Louis in the National League Central.
"(One pitcher) could help," said Melvin. "When Dave Bush got hurt, it made a difference. We were much better when Dave Bush was in the rotation. So, one or two guys can make a difference. It has a domino effect on the bullpen."
