Bucks Biggest Need Is A Lockdown Defender

Bucks' GM Larry Harris said that the team's most glaring need next season is "an athletic swing player" who can serve as a lockdown defender.

"I want him to be something different than what Michael (Redd) and Bobby (Simmons) bring to the table," Harris said.

Milwaukee's Assistant GM Leaves Club

Bucks general manager Larry Harris announced Tuesday that assistant GM Dan Kohl is leaving the organization to pursue a career outside of sports.

Kohl is the nephew of owner Herb Kohl and has worked for the team during the past 13 years.

"I've been fortunate to work for an outstanding organization with a dedicated group of people," Kohl said in a statement. "While I've enjoyed my time with the Bucks immensely, I'm excited by the challenge of a career outside of basketball."

Bucks' GM Encouraged By Bogut's Angst

Bucks' general manager Larry Harris is encouraged by the angst and desire shown by Andrew Bogut following the club's elimination from the 2006 Playoffs.

"When he met with me, he told me, 'I'm going to go to the World Championships this summer (with Australia) and come back a different player.' " Harris said Friday. "He has just scratched the surface. His competitiveness and his basketball IQ, that's never going to change. His basketball game is going to improve."

He also confirmed that Bogut would be moving to the center position, his natural spot on the floor. This likely means that Jamall Magloire will be dealt during the summer.

"With Jamaal, he's a starting center on a playoff team; you can't deny that," Harris said. "The guy has a skill, he has a talent, and there are not a lot of true centers. . . . So when you're thinking about moving people around and moving size around, you better make sure you get the pieces that complement the players you do have."
