Red Sox Will Look To Deal For Izturis

Although the Red Sox insist they're committed to Alex Gonzalez for his defense at shortstop and not concerned with his sub-.300 on-base percentage, they are getting ready to engage in trade talks with the Dodgers for Cesar Izturis as soon as he comes off the disabled list.

Reds Acquire Ross, Designate Womack For Assignment

The Cincinnati Reds acquired outfielder Cody Ross from the Los Angeles Dodgers for a player to be named Monday and designated infielder Tony Womack for assignment.

"I'm happy to find a home, especially with the Reds, a great organization with a lot of history," Ross said after arriving at RFK Stadium in time to take batting practice before Cincinnati's game against the Washington Nationals. "It's an exciting time for me now."

Ned Colletti declined to comment on a report ? on his team's website ? that the Dodgers were close to trading outfielder Cody Ross to the Cincinnati Reds. The Dodgers designated Ross for assignment last week.
