Scout: Kemp's Shoulder Is Bothering Him

A scout believes Matt Kemp is playing with shoulder pain this season.

"Matt Kemp doesn't complain, but it's obvious his shoulder isn't back to 100 percent," the scout said.

Kemp had offseason shoulder surgery and is hitting .267/.315/.358 with two home runs and 16 RBI in 43 games.

GM Issues Support For Don Mattingly

Don Mattingly insists that he doesn't expect to be fired by the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Dodgers general manager Ned Colletti said his manager is "doing fine" and has kept the team steady despite its last-place showing in the NL West.

Mattingly also talked with team president Stan Kasten within the past couple of days and didn't get any indication he was about to be replaced.

"As far as any kind of rumors or whatever they are, I talked to Stan the other day. He didn't fire me that day," Mattingly said. "I'm still here. Ned didn't tell me I wasn't going to be here tomorrow or today. That's the way I look at it."

Dodgers Have 'No Plans' To Fire Mattingly

According to a club official, the Los Angeles Dodgers have "no plans" to fire Don Mattingly.

The Dodgers will return to Los Angeles later this week.

Mattingly's status has appeared tenuous since the Dodgers were swept in San Francisco two weeks ago, part of an eight-game losing streak.

Dodgers To Fire Mattingly Soon?

The Los Angeles Dodgers could and should fire Don Mattingly soon, writes Ken Rosenthal.

The Dodgers are 17-25 despite a $217 million payroll. They are in last place, seven games back in the NL West.

"The Dodgers were swept over their weekend in Atlanta, getting outscored, 16-8. Their bullpen allowed 12 of the runs," writes Rosenthal. "And Mattingly’s postgame quotes were the equivalent of bad body language, the thoughts of a manager who doesn’t know how to snap his team out of it."
