Returning To Form, Pujols Knew He'd Have Adjustment Period

Albert Pujols had a rough first month of the 2012 season, but he has started to hit in his first season as a member of the Angels.

"Well, I knew it was going to take a couple of months for me to get used to all this," Pujols said on Tuesday night.

"Still, it's a long season and I've got to continue to do what it takes for us to win."

Including the homer he crushed off Andy Pettitte into the left-field bullpen at Angel Stadium on Tuesday night, Pujols has eight homers and 24 RBIs in the last 29 days.

Angels Place Weaver On Disabled List

The Angels have placed Jered Weaver on the disabled list with a lower-back injury.

Weaver said he's hopeful he can return shortly after he's eligible to do so on June 12.

It is only the second DL stint of Weaver's career.

"It's always disappointing knowing you're not going to be out there pitching two or three times," Weaver said. "I'm a competitor when I get out there, but I'm going to work my butt off in between here to do whatever it takes to get back on that mound."

Weaver Exits Game With Back Injury

Jered Weaver left his start against the Yankees in the first inning Monday night after only 12 pitches and failing to record an out.

The Angels announced Weaver suffered a lower-back injury.

The right-hander will undergo an MRI and X-rays on Tuesday before a decision is made on whether he will be placed on the disabled list.

"I've never felt anything like that before. It felt like somebody stabbed me in the back," Weaver said. "I couldn't really do much about it. It's very disappointing. You get motivated for games like this."

Angels Attendance Is Down 14 Percent

The Angels have experienced the largest attendance drop in the Major Leagues this season, down 14 percent.

They sold more than 5,000 season tickets after they signed Albert Pujols and all those tickets count in the attendance figures.

Pujols has started to hit recently and it remains to be seen if the fans will follow.

Pujols Hitting .280 With Seven HRs Since May 4

Albert Pujols appears to have put his early season slump behind him.

The first baseman, who was hitting .194 with no homers and five RBI through May 4, is batting .280 with seven home runs and 21 RBI since.

"Obviously, we struggled last month," Pujols said. "We've been playing pretty well the last couple weeks. Sooner or later, we knew we were going to turn it around. We were not going to force things. That's the way this game is."

He homered for the Angels on Saturday, marking the third straight game in which he did so.
