Angels Dismiss Abreu Trade Talk

The Angels claim that a trade involving Bobby Abreu is not imminent.

A proposed deal with Cleveland may have fallen apart over how much of the slugger's $9 million salary that Los Angeles would pay, according to sources.

"Bobby's on our club," general manager Jerry Dipoto said. "That's been fairly consistently stated from the start. We talk to other teams every day and we'll continue to."

Isringhausen Wins Place In Angels Bullpen

The Angels have added Jason Isringhausen to their 40-man roster, giving the veteran right-hander a spot in their Opening Day bullpen.

Under the Collective Bargaining Agreement, the Angels would have had to pay $100,000 to keep Isringhausen, who signed to a Minor League contract at the start of Spring Training, on the roster past this morning.

Abreu Trade Falls Apart

A deal between the Indians and Angels that would have sent Bobby Abreu to Cleveland has fallen apart, according to a report.

Jon Heyman of CBS Sports says the deal fell apart "as constituted."

On Thursday night, it appeared as though the two teams would eventually reach an agreement on a deal.

Angels Send Trout To Triple-A

The Angels have optioned outfielder Mike Trout to Triple-A Salt Lake.

He had a rough spring, losing 15 pounds because of an illness.

Trout, 20, has yet to play in the outfield this spring after he experienced some shoulder stiffness.

His next game at Triple-A will be his first, as the Angels promoted him straight from Double-A Arkansas last season.

Angels, Indians On Verge Of Abreu Deal

The Twins may be on the verge of acquiring Bobby Abreu from the Angels, according to a report.

Abreu, who is hitting .087 this spring, doesn't appear to have a solidified role with Los Angeles heading into the season.

The 38-year-old said at the beginning of camp that he preferred to be traded if he wasn't going to be an everyday player.

If a deal is finalized, the Angels are expected to pay most, if not all, of Abreu's $9-million salary this season.

There was speculation that the player coming from the Indians would be 28-year-old outfielder Trevor Crowe, who was pulled from a minor league game on Thursday.
