Matsui Confident He'll Return To Outfield

Hideki Matsui is confident that he can return to the outfield next season with the Angels.

Matsui returned to Japan on Wednesday, two weeks after signing a one-year, $6 million deal with Los Angeles.

"I'd like to prove I can play defense at spring training," Matsui said. "It will be difficult to play defense every day like in the past, but I'd like to reach the point where I'm able to play defense once every few games."

He has been slowed by surgically repaired knees.

Oliver Doesn't Want To Be Brett Favre

Darren Oliver is returning to the Rangers, but the 39-year-old isn't sure how much longer he'll pitch.

Oliver agreed to a one-year deal with Texas that includes an option for the 2011 season.

"I don't want to start a Brett Favre thing," Oliver said Wednesday. "We'll just see what happens this year."
