Kazmir Keeps Options Open On Demanding Trade This Winter

Scott Kazmir will have the option to demand a trade from the Angels this winter.

The Angels acquired Kazmir from the Rays for three prospects on Friday.

Because Kazmir was traded in the middle of a multi-year contract, he can force a move. However, the pitcher isn't worried about making a decision just yet.

"I'm looking at this year right now," Kazmir told the Los Angeles Times. "That's all I can think of.

"I would love to finish out my contract here, in an organization like this. I'm lucky to be a part of it."

Kazmir Will Make Debut Against Mariners

Scott Kazmir will make his debut for the Angels against the Mariners.

Angels manager Mike Scioscia said after Friday's game against the Athletics that Kazmir will start Tuesday or Wednesday.

"I'm excited," center fielder Torii Hunter told the Associated Press. "We kind of got wind of it like the fourth or fifth inning, and I think that gave us a lift. I definitely think Kazmir's going to help the rotation out a whole lot. I'm glad I don't have to face him now. He's on my team."

Kazmir Likely Means End For Lackey In L.A.

The acquisition of Scott Kazmir likely means the end for John Lackey with the Angels.

The Angels got Kazmir from the Rays for two minor leaguers on Friday.

"We look at this opportunity as a fit for us not only in the short term but in the long term," general manager Tony Reagins told the Los Angeles Times.

Lackey will be a free agent at the end of the season.
