Angels Farm Report: Walden K's 9 In 6 Innings

Jordan Walden, one of the top pitching prospects in the Angels' organization, struck out nine batters in six innings in a Single-A start on Tuesday for Cedar Rapids.

Walden did, however, yield three earned runs. His season ERA is now at 1.90.

The Angels prospect was one of the most highly touted prospects coming out of high school but dropped to the 12th round of the 2006 draft.

Angels' Lackey Ready To Begin Rehab Stint

Angels' starter John Lackey is ready to begin a rehab stint in the minor leagues this week, according to the Los Angeles Times.

"He's ready stuff-wise to go out there and compete," said manager Mike Scioscia. "We want to make sure he comes out of this fine. If that comes to pass, he'll be on his way to getting stretched out and getting the stamina he'll need to rejoin the Angels."

He will make his first rehab start on Thursday as long as everything goes according to the team's plans.

Vlad Insists Finger Injury Isn't Serious

Vladimir Guerrero insists that the finger injury that forced him to miss the Angels' game on Thursday isn't a serious issue, according to the Press-Enterprise.

He claims it's a problem he deals with annually and that he has experienced pain and swelling in the right index finger on occasion since getting hit on the hand back in 1996.

"Once it swells up, it doesn't go down," Guerrero said through a translator. "It's something I've lived with my whole career. It won't go down."

"Once the season ends, that's when the swelling starts going down. Just swinging the bat, once it swells up, it stays," he added.
