Guerrero Won't Need Surgery On Knee

Vladimir Guerrero's aching right knee that bothered him last season feels better and won't require surgery.

Guerrero, who participated in a charity softball game Saturday in the Dominican Republic organized by Boston Red Sox slugger David Ortiz, told The Associated Press that the Angels were considering surgery.

"They were going to operate on me, but it wasn't necessary because I had a good recovery," he said.

Angels' Rivera Undergoes Surgery To Repair Leg

Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim outfielder Juan Rivera on Wednesday underwent surgery to repair a broken left leg.

Rivera will remain in the hospital for at least three days and will have X-rays taken every two weeks. He is expected to begin rehabilitation in six to eight weeks.

Hillenbrand Joins Angels

Shea Hillenbrand has agreed to a one-year contract with the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, FOXSports.com has learned.

The New York Yankees had shown interest in Hillenbrand, but are now believed to be turning their attention toward Doug Mientkiewicz or Mark Loretta to fill their first base needs.
