Orioles Won't Deal Tejada

The Orioles will not trade shortstop Miguel Tejada, FOXSports.com has learned.

The Astros, Angels and Rangers all made serious offers for Tejada, a major-league official says, but the Orioles were not motivated enough to make a deal.

The Orioles rejected at least one blockbuster trade ? Tejada for Astros right-hander Roy Oswalt, shortstop Adam Everett and a third player.

They also could have sent Tejada to the Angels for right-hander Ervin Santana and Triple-A shortstop Erick Aybar.

A's Become Latest Threat In Soriano Trade Rumors

Sources are saying that the Los Angeles Angels, Minnesota Twins and most recently, the Oakland Athletics have emerged as the finalists in the Alfonso Soriano sweepstakes.

It is unknown whether the A's would keep Soriano or re-package him in another deal. Oakland GM Billy Beane has a history of working three-way deals, but if the A's hope to contend this season, Soriano makes sense because Oakland's offense is strongly lacking.

Washington Nationals general manager Jim Bowden is expected to move Soriano today with a conclusion expected to push right up against the deadline.

Angels Try To Sweeten Deal For Tejada With Kotchman

An Orioles source said the Angels sweetened their offer Sunday (originally Ervin Santana and triple-A shortstop Erick Aybar), possibly adding first baseman Casey Kotchman. The Angels, according to several sources, did not include highly touted pitching prospect Nick Adenhart in the package.

They will now shift their focus to Alfonso Soriano.
