Selig Likes KC's Chances To Host All-Star Game
"I made a bet with myself on how long it would take to ask and you didn't disappoint me," Selig said Thursday before a Royals-Mariners day game. "I said either one or two. We've announced the 2010 game and I would say Kansas City is doing extremely well." Kansas City hasn't hosted an All-Star Game since Kauffman Stadium opened in 1973. The home of the Royals is undergoing a massive $250 million renovation that will modernize the stadium. "Ten, 12 years ago nobody wanted an All-Star Game. We had to call and prod and sort of beg them, if you do this it would be great for the sport," Selig said. "We've got them so stacked up now wanting All-Star games that there's some people that aren't happy with me because they think their club should get an All-Star Game.
